Frankfurt Two has come a long way since our last construction update! Back in December, the site was dominated by an incomplete concrete frame and we had only just started constructing the second floor. Six months on, we have completed construction of the 5-storey, purpose-built data centre and it is already under partial occupancy!
Lights, Power, Action!
Looking at the progress made, the topping out ceremony in April was naturally a key moment in the site’s history.
However significant milestones also include the connection of the 120,000 volt electrical supply through medium voltage switchgear to our LV transformers, with ‘power on’ to landlords’ supplies.
The electrical supply is currently supported by 28 MW of generator power on the roof and this will increase as needed until the facility reaches full occupancy.
We are also particularly proud of the installation of 5.5 MW of adiabatic cooling, commissioned within our specially designed and beautifully clad external gantries, which cools our white space while also meeting local heat rejection, noise and aesthetic requirements.
The team has worked extremely hard to maintain an impressive speed of construction and we are delighted that three data halls have been successfully completed in such a short period.
One hall of just under 800 square metres and 1,760 kW of power in an A&B configuration has already been commissioned and handed over to our first client for internal fit out. Two further halls are in the final commissioning stages and are due for handover at the end of this month, bringing the total load handed over to clients to over 5 MW of power per A&B supply.
Additional capacity will also be made available with the construction of two additional halls which are on schedule for completion and client acceptance in September and October 2018.
In the meantime, our attention is focused on completing external finishes, including landscaping, and fitting out client office and storage spaces to a high standard, so that all works are finalised by the end of August.
Our Facilities Management team is also working alongside the construction team and specialist suppliers to complete type training and enable handover witnessing and testing.
So, while the summer heralds a period of ‘R&R’ for many, Frankfurt Two will continue to be a hive of activity. We look forward to showing you around the facility soon!Back To All News
